Hi there
My name is Simon and I've been following an Intermittent Fasting Protocol since February 2012 and I've had great success with this system of eating , it has enabled me to drop my bodyweight from 13st 9 lbs down to as low as 11st 6 lbs without the need for a complicated diet plan that would be hard to follow and more importantly I've found Intermittent Fasting really easy to sustain.
I had been able to drop my weight before with diet , mostly low carb , high protein type diets but I always found that the lure of high carb treats was just too tempting for me and I would give in to the temptation of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food , Pik N Mix or even a whole birthday cake!
When this happened guess what ? I'd just end up going on a binge and forgetting all about my diet goals until all the weight went back on and I was depressed again and started the whole cycle of dieting and binging once more.
Then back at the beginning of 2012 I came across something that was new to me , new and exciting ! This thing called Intermittent Fasting and I read and read everything that I could find on the subject > I had been interested in Fasting purely as a way to cleanse the system but I read that this was a sustainable system for dropping bodyweight and keeping it off and to top it all it was great for bodybuilding and weightlifting , I wondered if this could be possible ?
So I embarked on a twice weekly 24 hr Intermittent Fast and at first it felt quite strange although not for the reasons you might think , I didn't feel particularly hungry once I was in the mindset and my energy levels were fine , it was just strange getting up in the morning and not having to eat breakfast , then at lunch still not eating , it felt like I had more time on my hands and this was great. I also felt a feeling of power because I realised that I could go 24 hrs without eating and just by drinking water and the odd cup of coffee I felt fine , friends had told me that I would be shaky and starving but this just wasn't the case .
I dropped in weight by 27 lbs in just over a 2 month period , this was skewed in my favour by my exercise program which consisted of weights 3 times a week ,Bikram Yoga once a week and 4 miles of dog walking everyday.....alright not much dog walking on Sunday but don't let the dogs know !
It's 8 months on now since I started Intermittent Fasting and I still Fast twice a week , the other days I eat the same sort of foods as I did before but don't feel the need to binge because I can eat a piece of cake if I want it or some ice cream and not worry about it.
